The Parish Council

The Parish Council is a democratically elected body. It represents the two villages of Rogate and Rake, and the surrounding hamlets. Its most well-known function is to make recommendations on all local planning applications to the South Downs National Park Authority, but it is more than just that.

Your Parish Council is the first tier of Local Government and is there to represent the community as a whole. It provides services such as bus shelters, playground facilities, recreation grounds and open spaces, and maintains the look and feel of the countryside in your parish. The Council provides the local voice on issues such as highways, traffic, footpaths, planning enforcement and affordable housing. A Neighbourhood Plan for the parish was completed in 2021.
