I have lived in the Rogate area – specifically owning a house in Durford Wood – for 11 years having moved here from nearby Bramshott where I lived for 13 years.
Both my husband, Gerard McCloskey, and I are involved with local activities. Gerard is Chairman of the Rogate Choral Society and I teach yoga each week in both Rogate and Stedham.
Two years ago I stood as a candidate in a local council election for the Rogate ward and both during the run up to the elections and since then have become more aware of the issues faced by the locality and its inhabitants. While campaigning I met a lot of people in the constituency and was able to discuss with them their issues and problems as well experiencing the charm of the area as I slowly drove along each and every road and knocked on every door.
Our son was also educated locally. Even my dog has played its part in the area, winning an award at Rogate show!
I have had a broad professional career involving supplying mining equipment and working as an energy trader before I established two companies in the UK working in trading and energy consultancy.
I know and treasure the seductive charms of the area and appreciate the need to defend and nurture these gifts and this requires continual diligence.
